Deep Work – How to Focus on Your Goals and Achieve
If we 100% focus on any of our work, we can complete it successfully. We will get big happiness when we complete our task successfully. But there have a lot of distractions like social media. So how we can focus on our work without distracting by those things?
There has a book called Deep Work by Cal Newport. According to him if you work 100% focused on something, that work called deep work. Deep work helps to achieve goals with a short time period.
Real-life people who follow deep work method
We all know about the Windows operating system and the owner of Microsoft Bill Gates.
Also, J. K. Rowling, who wrote Harry porter book collection. Those people know about the concept of deep work, and they apply it to their works.
If someone applies this deep work method, they will able to fix complex issues, new inventors or build high-quality artworks within a short time period.
According to rumors, Bill Gates made the first version of windows application without 8 hours.
The benefit of deep work
There has a tissue called Myelin in our brain. When we give 100% attention to any work, So our brain upgrades to the next level because of this Myelin. It’s like you upgrade your mobile phone software.
So you don’t need any talent or skill to grow this tissue. Only you have to practice deep work method and improve this mental state.
How to practice deep work
Choose a time
The first thing is, you must choose a time period to practice deep work. in this time periods avoid everything you get distracts,
As an example,
- Turn off your mobile phone
- Choose the time that doesn’t have any distraction around you
- find a place without distractions
And start to complete your works; you can do any work like,
- Your homework
- complex projects
- music or any other art-related works
The first time you will not be able to do this for a long time period. You will able to give 100% focus for like 1 hour.
But when you keep doing this, you will be able to do it for a long time period. Also, do it as a habit. As example,
If your deep time period is 6.00 AM to 7.00 AM, try to do it for every day.
If you do this for 66 days, it will become a habit, and you will automatically try to do deep works in day 67.
Manage to-do list
Most of the time we worried about work that; we didn’t finish within a day. So our brain keeps thinking about those things, and we lose our freedom.
So to-do list is the best way to avoid this feeling. When you finish your works on the to-do list, you can stay relax and happy about your works.
Also, you can plan works tomorrow and list those work on the to-do list. It will relax your brain, and you feel way better. And it will help to get good and long sleep.
Follow those things you will be more productive and motivated when you train deep work method.
